Hopeless Youth in Somalia PDF Print E-mail

youthsomAll the fighting, violence and instability in Somalia over the past decades has created a generation of youths scarred, bitter, violent and lost. Because of all the current unrest, there’s no one to take care of Somali youths and show them a better way. They are being orphaned, abandoned and neglected and are falling into bad hands that lead them to violence, conflict, anger, drugs, destruction and death.

There’s a feeling of hopelessness in Somalia for the country’s youth. They need help getting stability and security back in their lives. New Hope will help by providing a stable and safe environment for them to learn new trades and skills, a safe place to play sports, have recreation and just be a kid. New Hope will provide the youth mentoring and show them how they can live a better life and make better decisions. New Hope will help them become a more productive member of society and help them make their country better in the future. New Hope will also help them see that there is a path to a better quality of life. They will develop the skills to get better jobs so they can stay away from the fighting and violence.

The idea behind New Hope is to help end the violence through Somali youth and bring them a better quality of life. New Hope believes the best way to achieve this is to stop or eliminate the radical groups like Al-Shabaab. The only way to do this is not by disarming them, but by taking the Somali youth away from them since they rely on them so much for their violence.

For the past 15 years, Somali youth in the United States have had a more stable place to grow up and see a different way of life. Some of the younger immigrants however are joining gangs and have exported and transferred their violence to American cities. Some of them are even returning back to Somalia to rejoin the fighting and have died doing it. They keep fighting because this became a way of life for them and it was inbred in their system early in their lives. New hope wants to change this.

The New Hope Job Training and Development Organization is an American organization. We will perform all our work with honesty and integrity. We will be subjected to U.S. laws. We understand the importance and the need for organizations to do things the right way in Somalia.

New Hope wants to help turn the tide in Somalia and make positive changes for Somali youth. New Hope has the creativity and vision to change the youth environment in Somalia and help rebuild the country by planting trees, cleaning streets, mentoring, teaching, giving them a safe place to learn and play, and showing Somali youth the benefits of a better way of life.

New Hope believes that if Somali youth make a decision to change the current situation and their future, then this will later help stabilize Somalia and eventually open up the country to tourism and more jobs – ultimately it will be a better place. It will also help the many Somalis that fled the country to avoid the fighting return back home to a safe and stable place.
